Very close to Aranda, on the road to Valladolid (N-122) we encounter Finca Torremilanos. Wine making here dates back to 1903 and the state counts today with 200 hectares of vineyard that surround the winery and its 4 star hotel. The visitor can enjoy a peaceful stay in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. This is the perfect place to taste the wines produced at the state. Strolls in the gardens and by the vineyards will get you away from stress and inside “wineland”.

Bodegas Viyuela:

On the way out of Aranda de Duero on the N 122 we can take the first right following the railway tracks to Roa, home to the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero. Further ahead you will drive through vineyards before reaching Boada de Roa. In this village you can visit the modern installations of bodegas Viyuela and taste their wines. Dining rooms are available to organize private events and taste the typical local cuisine, specially roasts, black pudding and cheese.

Wineries on the way to Valladolid

Emina:

Emina introduces itself as much more than a winery. This innovative wine state in Ribera del Duero has created the Wine Interpretation Centre. In this building finely integrated with the surronding landscape and next to the winery, the visitor will be able to follow the full winemaking process, and enjoy from a glass pyramid the observation of some os the steps in the process. Business and leisure activities are organised all around the year, including weddings. At Emina´s restaurant La Espadaña de San Bernardo you can enjoy their wines and pair them with the food they recommend. You can also request a room at the rural lodge, 2 kms away from the State.

Finca Villacreces

Finca Villacreces benefits from its unique location where vineyards, woods and the tranquil river Ebro are in great harmony. There is therefore an interesting fauna and flora.The property spreads over 115 hectares, 60 of which are vineyards.

The guided tour lasts 1h15 and you will be taken through the vineyard to discover the nuances and subtleties of the different plots. The visit is concluded by wine-tasting. There are two possibilities: tasting the wines of their own cellar Finca Villacreces, or an « Artevino » tasting, which includes wines from Rioja, Toro and Finca Villacreces, combined with typical cheese from each region.  
There is a dining room for 25 people (previous booking necessary) which is ideal for company lunches or celebrations. There is also an annexed room which enables the use of audiovisual means.

Arzuaga:

Bodegas Arzuaga was founded only at the beginning of 1990, but its name can be seen in many of the best wine lists. The winery is set in a large state, and the building mixes a robust stone exterior with the welcoming warmth of wood. Bodgas Arzuaga offers a 5 star hotel next to the winery, and from a lift the hotel has direct access visitor to the wine-making installations and cellars. Feautured wine weekends are organised at the hotel including accomodation, lunch and wine tastings, all for around 200 Euro per person. The state also organises corporate and private events.

Abadía Retuerta:

Bodegas Abadía Retuerta Abadia means Abbey in Spanish. The name of this winery and its wines is not a surprise if you know that a XII century old Abbey can be visited at their state. Organised tours and wine tasting sessions are organised, including a visit to the Abbey. All in all, a very special visit and a great place to taste their award wining wines.

Enotouristic tours in Valladolid

The Wine Bus of Valladolid:

Once in Valladolid we can choose to go on an organised wine trip. The Wine Tourist office of Valladolid organizes day trips every other Saturdays on a bus to visit different wineries. Depending on the routes (Toro, Cigales, Rueda and Ribera del Duero) you will visit between 2 to 5 bodegas and stop at interesting monuments and viewpoints. You can obtain details on their schedules on this link. The price of 45 Euro includes lunch in one of the local restaurants. This is one of the easiest options to enjoy wine tourism: there is no need to worry about previous bookings, getting lost and drunk driving!

Grupo Yllera - Bodega "El Hilo de Ariadna"

The Yllera group is one of the biggest wineries in Castille-Léon and has set up in the town of Rueda one of the main attractions for wine tourists in the area: the winery "El Hilo de Ariadna". It consists in a maze of wineries, which will take you in 10 underground cellars, in each of which you will be introduced to one of their wines. The whole trip is based on the old Legend of  the Maze of the Minotaurus: by following the “string” which enabled Theseus to escape, we will take part in magical tour surrounded by mythological references and mudejar arches. This is a very original way to discover Yllera´s best wines and their magic.
The winery in which the wine is actually made is only a few kilometres away. The visit may include both wineries.
